COSSPP Strategic Planning

COSSPP Strategic Planning Overview

During the 2018-2019 academic year, the faculty, staff and students of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) will be coming together to develop a Strategic Plan to guide the college over the next decade. Established in 1973, COSSPP has almost 5,000 students and 200+ faculty and staff, making it the third largest college in the university. Basic and applied research conducted at the college, augmented by high quality curricula across over twenty programs, addresses the most pressing issues facing Florida, the nation, and the planet.

To continue making great advances in research, teaching, service, and student success, the College needs to establish a vision, affirm its core values, and clarify its strategic directions. A COSSPP Strategic Plan will help the college compete more successfully for university resources and then invest those resources wisely. This plan will also align the college with FSU’s Strategic Plan in order to support the university’s goal of becoming a Top 25 public university.

The Plan Development Process

The college has contracted with the FSU FCRC Consensus Center to facilitate the development of the plan. The plan development process (shown in the figure below) will engage faculty, staff, and students through a series of activities, including questionnaires, meetings, and workshops in the Fall of 2018 and Spring of 2019. The plan will rely upon a Strategic Directions Committee, made up of a group of faculty and staff drawn from across the College.
