MPH Admissions Requirements
NOTE: FSU is waiving the GRE as a requirement for admission to certain masters and specialist degree programs until the end of 2026. The GRE waiver will be automatically applied to all applications for those terms.

The application deadlines for regular graduate admission are listed below, however, in order to be considered for university-wide awards and assistantships, please read the information below:

**We do not admit students for the summer semester**
- Earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
- A minimum of 3.0 (on a 4.0) in all work attempted while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student (the semester you earn 60 credit hours).
- *WAIVED UNTIL 2026* GRE scores with a percentile ranking of 50 or higher on the verbal, quantitative, and writing sections. This equates to about 150 in both the verbal and quantitative portions and a 4 in the writing section.
Please note that all applications are reviewed holistically to determine the applicant’s eligibility. Applicants who do not meet one of these criteria are still eligible to apply and are encouraged to address these issues in their statement of purpose.
Statement of Purpose
Whether you are a recent graduate with an undergraduate degree or have decades of experience in the field, the Graduate Admissions Committee reviews all applications holistically. We want to evaluate your qualifications for an advanced degree in Public Health.
Your statement of purpose should be:
- 12 pt. font, and
- No more than two (2) pages in length
This is one of the most important parts of your admission application. Be sure to read over your statement prior to submission. We do take grammar, spelling, writing style, and tone into consideration.
Please ensure you respond to all the prompts asked:
1. Elaborate on your academic and/or professional preparation for a career in public health. Note any relevant strengths or weaknesses in your background
*If you feel your present record does not reflect your potential, please share why you think you can manage the demands of graduate education
2. Why Florida State’s MPH program specifically? What is your interest?
3. What are your career plans upon completion of the program?
A resume should be concise, easy-to-read, grammatically correct, well-composed, and formated.
Please limit your resume to a maximum of two pages.

The GRE is waived for the MPH program until the end of 2026. This will automatically be waived on your application online.
Letters of Recommendation:
We do not accept letters sent directly from applicants. The online application will prompt you to submit an email address for your references in the “Recommendations” section.
A minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation are required. Minimally need to submit at least 1 academic reference if graduated in the last three (3) years. If you graduated more than three (3) years ago, you may substitute professional references in place of academic references.
Academic letters should come from instructors who can speak to your performance as a student and your ability to complete graduate-level coursework.
Professional letters should come from supervisors who can speak on your work performance and who can discuss your abilities, competencies, and personal character while recommending you for admission.
- It is always a good idea to have the person writing your letter describe how they know you.
- Do not have a relative, friend or personal therapist write a letter for you.
The references will become part of your admissions file. They will be used only for admissions consideration and will not be disclosed to any unauthorized individual without your consent.
Please upload your unofficial transcripts to your application.
We do NOT need official transcripts to make an admission decision. You only need to send your official transcripts IF you were to be admitted AND choose to attend.

Please do not send official transcripts to any address other than what’s stated directly above. Transcripts sent to another email or mailing address will not be accepted and must be re-ordered by the applicant.
