Demography Center Announces New Scholarship
Beginning in the fall 2019 semester, the Center for Demography and Population Health (CDPH) will offer a new scholarship for incoming students pursuing a master’s degree.
Thanks to the generosity of CDPH founder and Professor Emeritus Charles B. Nam, the $5,000 scholarship will further help deserving students defer the costs of graduate school.
CDHP also offers the $3,000 Serow Scholarship each fall to a student with an outstanding undergraduate academic record and the $1,000 Serow Prize to a student in the Master of Science in Demography program for outstanding performance and high potential for continued success in applied demography.
The Serow awards are named for William J. Serow, professor of Economics at Florida State University from 1981 until his untimely death in 2003 and director of the Center for the Study of Population (the CDPH precursor) from 1990 to 2003.
