College Undergrads Win Leadership Awards
Leadership Awards Night is an annual recognition of students, faculty, staff, and organizations that have epitomized the definition of leadership by their exemplary contributions to the Florida State University community through achievement, service, or organizational leadership involvement.
At this year’s ceremony, April 11, 2017, the following students from the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy were honored.
President’s Award to one outstanding freshman who has demonstrated service to the university and shows potential for future leadership success: Akice Agwa (Sociology)
Student Seminole Award to students who have made special contributions to the university in the areas of leadership and service: Kirstin Nygaard (Sociology), Kaylynn Toomey (Political Science)
Student Activities Outstanding Student Leaders of the Year Award: Alexandra Jones (Political Science), Jasmine Richardson (Interdisciplinary Social Sciences)
Academic Leadership Award: David Butter (Political Science)
In addition to individual student awards, the college’s Student Leadership Council won the Vires Award for exemplary perseverance and resiliency in overcoming organizational challenges and obstacles, the ability to retain and engage members towards a common purpose that aligns with the mission and values of the organization; and creation of a lasting legacy in the FSU community.
