The interdisciplinary program in Latin American and Caribbean Studies is designed to develop a student’s competence in the language, history, culture, and contemporary political and economic issues of the region.

The requirements of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies major are designed to allow students to pursue a variety of distinct interests that align with a student’s personal and professional goals.

This program helps prepare students for international careers in the public and private sectors, such as positions in government, business, nongovernmental and non-profit organizations, journalism, research, and teaching. Additionally, this major may serve as a vehicle into graduate school in a variety of fields.
