Are you interested in giving back to current Florida State University students? FSU Social Science Alumni and Friends are a very important part of student success. There are several ways that you can contribute to a continuing progress of FSU and our students.
One important contribution is your time. The Career Center at FSU has a deep commitment to student success and special opportunities for university alumni and friends. Your participation with students is valuable and needed.
If you are interested in providing career guidance, please consider the following opportunities.
ProfessioNole – ProfessioNole is an online database of alumni and friends who are willing to provide career and industry information and insight to current students to assist them in their career development. Your knowledge and experience can be invaluable to students. The best part is that you can be anywhere in the world when you provide career guidance through this program. The link to sign up for ProfessioNole is here.
The FSU Career Center offers forums to speak to students.
From Nole to ProfessioNole: Ignite Your Experience is offered in the fall semester and consists of the following workshops: Resume Writing, Conquer the Career Fair, Build Your Brand, Dress to Impress, Thinking about Graduate School, and Interviewing Like a Boss.
From Nole to ProfessioNole: Backpack to Briefcase is offered in the spring semester and consists of the following workshops: Job Search Checklist, Conquer the Career Fair, Build Your Brand, Negotiate Your Salary, and How to Survive and Thrive Your First Year on the Job.
Charlie Ricker (career liaison to political science, economics, and sociology) and Rebecca Lovett (career liaison to interdisciplinary social science and international affairs) are seeking at least one professional to speak at each of these workshops. Your participation is valued and flexible through personal or virtual options.
Each semester ProfessioNole Connections: College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Networking Night is offered as the culmination to each of the above series.
We start this event with a panel in which alumni have the opportunity to share their career paths and answer students’ questions. The alumni panel is then followed by an hour of networking, giving students the opportunity to meet with alumni and friends.
Alumni and friends can contribute to FSU students by hosting an information session or reception – Students will become more informed about your organization and you will have the opportunity to meet potential candidates in advance of your recruiting visit.
The FSU Career Center is always interested in your ideas about internships or externships for students. If your organization has an opportunity to offer experiential learning or internships for students, we are happy to help organize these opportunities with you.
If you are interested in giving back to students in any of the above listed ways, please contact:
