The Bureau of Educator Certification is currently seeking positions for:

The Bureau of Educator Certification at the Department of Education has two open positions. One is full-time career service, the other an OPS position of up to 40 hours weekly. The Bureau of Educator Certification at the Department of Education prefers someone for the OPS position who will be able to commit 20-plus hours weekly. Both are professional positions requiring a bachelor’s degree, and the successful candidate will have some specialized knowledge. The Bureau issues certification for Florida’s teachers and instructional personnel and requires a Level II background check prior to employment.

Full-time position: Program Specialist I – Educator Certification background unit

A job candidate with license processing experience at another state agency (Versa knowledge a plus) and/or experience with background checks for any criminal or non-criminal justice agency is needed quickly. We are interested in candidates with a criminal justice, education, or public administration bachelor’s and/or  work experience. The position requires an attention to detail, the ability to work independently and make difficult decisions without significant oversight, and personal integrity. The primary responsibility of the Background Screening unit specialist (Program Specialist I-DOE, Position # 48001569) is to evaluate and manage background screening results for educator certification applications. The employee is also the primary contact with bureau and agency personnel as well as school district certification partners regarding applicant background screening status and investigative referral of applicant cases. Salary base for this position is $2,583 monthly, but that is expected to be higher for a candidate who meets the qualifications we seek.

 

OPS position: Program Specialist II – Educator Certification evaluations unit

A job candidate with experience evaluating applicants for licensing/certification is needed quickly. Versa knowledge is strongly desired. Education Majors are preferred. Pay is $17-20 hourly, depending on experience.

·         Legislative Policy Analysts (salary range $38,220 to $82,608)

·         Senior Legislative Analysts (salary range $52,632 to $105,576)

 

Positions are available in the following policy areas:  Criminal Justice, Education, Government Operations and Health and Human Services.
