Certificates are a great way to expand your career opportunities, enhance your degree, and explore particular areas of interest within the field of Public Administration. Certificate programs include a specific set of coursework that is noted on your transcript upon completion.
Admission to a certificate program is required; students are not enrolled in a certificate program by virtue of being enrolled in related courses. Students must first apply to and be admitted to both the university and to the certificate program in order to be considered enrolled. IMPORTANT: In order to be eligible for admission to a graduate certificate program, an applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution.
- Step 1: Apply for admission to the University (select one):
- Non-Degree-Seeking
- Degree-Seeking
Florida Residency Form: If you are a Florida resident, you must complete the Florida Residency Affidavit, even if you were previously designated a Florida Resident by the university. If you do not complete this form, you will be classified as a non-Florida resident for tuition purposes
- Step 2: Complete the appropriate Certificate Admissions Form
Admission to a certificate program requires submission of an online Certificate Admissions Application to the appropriate department coordinator and the Registrar’s Office prior to the completion of two courses (6 credit hours) in the certificate program. Completion of courses means when the grades are posted. Please see the respective certificate website links listed below for the online application.
Although a C grade or better is accepted for credit, all graduate certificates require a 3.0 overall grade point average (GPA) in order to be awarded. All coursework in a graduate certificate program must be completed at Florida State University. Transfer credits may not count towards a certificate program. Coursework may not count towards two different certificates (but can count towards a certificate and the MPA degree).
After all certificate coursework is completed, but no later than 2 weeks after grades post, an online Certificate Completion Form must be filled out online in order to have the certificate issued. Approved completion forms will be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office for processing and will be posted to the official transcript. Please see the respective certificate website links listed below for the online Certificate Completion Form and contact information.
