COSSPP Advising Availability during Spring 2022 Registration
Good afternoon students,
Our offices are experiencing an extremely high volume of students signing into to speak with advisors – drop-in queues often exceed advisor capacity within minutes of opening during each advising period.
Please note the following information about Spring 2022 registration advising:
- Scheduled appointments can be made through Campus Connect for virtual or in-person appointments.
- Campus Connect allows appointments to be scheduled up to 3 weeks to the day in advance. During this busy time of the semester, all scheduled appointments are often fully booked.
- Students studying abroad through International Programs or a global exchange may email coss-advising@fsu.edu for email advising or to request a scheduled appointment based on time zone differences.
- Students in the Distance Learning ISS program may schedule appointments with our Distance Learning advisor through the automated advising reminders and updates she has sent.
- Drop-in advising availability is currently conducted entirely virtually through Campus Connect/Zoom.
- Signing in is only possible within the posted sign-in hours:
- Monday, Friday – 8:30-11:30 am and 1:00-2:30 pm
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 8:30-11:30 am and 1:00-3:30 pm
- Student volume often exceeds advisor capacity during this time of the semester. As a result, those students able to be seen usually have an extended wait time that can stretch to 90 minutes or more.
- When a student signs in, they are placed in a virtual queue that advisors work through on a first-come, first served basis. As a student is reached by an advisor, they are sent a link via text and FSU email to join a Zoom call with the advisor.
- Signing in is only possible within the posted sign-in hours:
- The most efficient method to receive updated advising information is to build a Spring 2022 schedule – either registering if you can or adding to your shopping cart if you cannot – before speaking with an advisor.
- Look at previous advising reports saved in Campus Connect – Click on the “Reports” tab on the main page after you log in. PDF copies of progress checks are attached to previous reports from our office.
- Check your Academic Requirements Report (ARR) online – this computer generated report is a great place to start looking at requirements, especially university graduation and Gen Ed.
- Search for classes that count in your major:
- Approved course lists and instructions on how to search for classes by academic department are on our website.
- Review tips on how to build a schedule when you are considering how many and which classes to take
- There is limited advising availability on the following dates because of new student orientation sessions. We recommend scheduling appointments or signing in for drop-ins on other available dates:
- Monday, October 18
- Friday, October 29
- Monday, November 15
- Monday, November 29
