COSSPP Strategic Planning
During the 2018-2019 academic year, the faculty, staff and students of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) came together to develop a COSSPP Strategic Plan to guide the college over the next decade. Established in 1973, COSSPP has almost 5,000 students and 200+ faculty and staff, making it the third largest college in the university. Basic and applied research conducted at the college, augmented by high quality curricula across 20+ programs, addresses the most pressing issues facing Florida, the nation, and the planet.
To continue making great advances in research, teaching, service, and student success, the College has established a new vision and mission, affirmed its core values, and clarified its strategic directions. This COSSPP Strategic Plan will help the college compete more successfully for university resources and then invest those resources wisely. The COSSPP Strategic Plan aligns with FSU’s Strategic Plan in order to support the university’s goal of becoming a Top 25 public university.
The Plan Development Process
The college contracted with the FSU FCRC Consensus Center to facilitate the development of the plan. The plan development process (shown in the figure) engaged faculty, staff, and students through a series of activities, including questionnaires, meetings, and workshops during the 2018-2019 academic year. The planning work was led by a Strategic Directions Committee, made up of a group of faculty and staff drawn from across the College
