Diversity and Inclusion

COSSPP Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Background
With its foundations in the social sciences and policy fields, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy is deeply interested in issues of race, ethnicity, gender, justice, politics, identity, and economic outcomes. These issues are central to our faculty research, core to our curricula, and an integral part of our university and community engagement. Given this tradition in our core disciplines, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy has a particular responsibility to reflect on, respond to, and advance Diversity and Inclusion for all members of the college’s community.

2021 COSSPP DEI Action Plan

Building upon Florida State University’s efforts to advance Diversity and Inclusion within the university community, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) created a COSSPP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan in 2021. This plan was developed by a committee of faculty, staff, and students over the course of a two-year period, ably co-led by Dr. Katrinell Davis and Dr. Brad Gomez. This effort builds upon the COSSPP Strategic Plan, which makes clear that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are central to the college’s curriculum, research, service, and culture.
The COSSPP DEI Action Plan established a set of goals, strategies, and critical tasks that will guide college investments, shape changes and updates to policies and procedures, and be central to strategic planning efforts. Like the COSSPP Strategic Plan, the COSSPP DEI Action Plan is intended to be a living document, requiring regular review, revision, and updates.
