Minor in African American Studies

To be eligible for the minor in African American Studies: A total of eighteen (18) credit hours are required for the minor, which consists of nine (9) credit hours from the African American Studies core courses, three (3) credit hours of either African or African American history, plus six (6) credit hours of supplementary courses. An overall "C" (2.0) average in African American Studies and supporting courses is required of minors. No credit toward minor will be granted for course which a grade of "D" has been received.

1. Core Course Requirements. Nine (9) credit hours in African American Studies core courses.
AFA 2000 Introduction to the African American Experience (3) and
AFA 3101 Theories of African American Studies (3) and
AFA 4006 Africana Diasporic Experience (3) or AFA 3330 Black Families in America (3)

2. Elective Course Requirements. Nine (9) credit hours in African American Studies elective courses.

Three (3) hours of African or African-American History Course and six (6) credit hours of supplementary courses.
